I meant to write this post earlier but, you know, life happens. Enough with the excuses, let’s jump in.
September’s gone and it’s that time again when I need to recap what happened with my online businesses and chart the way forward. I am going to be as precise and concise as possible. Welcome to my income report for the month.
In case you missed other income reports, you can find them here.
September Traffic
Last month, I resolved to take an active role in driving traffic to my website. All that I did last month was share the blog on StumbleUpon. I couldn’t find time to do blog comments or drive traffic through Facebook.
All in all, the blog recorded an increase in the number of visitors. Here’s my Statcounter traffic snapshot.
I got a whopping 599 unique visitors and 946 page views. You can see from the graphic that there were 74 returning visits to the blog. I know the numbers are not anything to brag about but it’s an improvement on my end. And the best way to judge your progress is to compete against yourself. So, cheers to me.
To get a perspective of the impact that StumbleUpon has had on the blog, check August’s traffic report below:
You can see I got 19 more visitors, ha! ha!. From the traffic logs, I can see most of the visitors were also coming to my website by typing keywords on Google. The top posts on the blog last month were:
I also posted two articles last month and though I did not promote them to my email list (had some hiccups changing from GetResponse to MailerLite), but they still got some traffic. So, I guess blogging on a regular also contributed to the traffic.

Below are my September earnings from some online ventures I’m involved in:
Costs: The amount indicated above is the net amount after deducting my costs. I do a poor job of keeping costs but I will be sure to include them in my next reports.

October Goals
With October already in, I plan to cut down on my writing projects and concentrate more on my passive income sites. I have set some goals for all the online properties I have. One of the major goals is to get all properties on Instagram and use the channel for traffic generation.
Other goals include setting up email capture forms and starting to capture leads, focus on traffic generation through specific tactics like forum marketing and blog commenting, get more traffic from social media sites, especially Facebook groups.
DonModekali.com
Here are the specifics I have for October for this blog:
Post four blog posts
Change my blog picture and expand the content on the About Me section
Start my YouTube Channel
Get more active on Instagram (Follow me@modekali). Double followers to about 500.
Double blog traffic to 2000
Double email subscriptions (At the moment, I have just about 120 subscribers)
Expand other content on my blog
This seems like quite a lot of tasks but I believe I can accomplish them. I am aiming for the sky and in case I miss it, I might as well land on the stars!
That’s my September Recap/Income report.
How’s you doing on your end? Send me a link to your blog recap so that I check it out.
New month is here and I’m excited to get started with another challenge. This is the 10K Challenge, which is all about building an authority blog, or website if you wish.
One of the goals I made at the beginning of the year was to build an authority website. I never really got to get started with the goal apart from buying a domain name. Then, sometime in August, one of the bloggers I follow, Tung Tran from Cloud Income started an authority website case study. I figured I should jump at it with him and others so that we can keep each others on toes. You know how it is in the online world, it can get pretty lonely when you have no one to be accountable to.
Anyway, I never got to get started with the project due to commitments here and there. But now, I feel I’m ready. The energy I have within me is daring me to roll on. So, here we go.
What is an Authority Website?
An authority website is simply a website that focuses on a large niche. To better understand what I mean, let’s look at some aspects that differentiate authority and niche websites.
i) Audience
The audience of a niche website is fairly defined while the audience of an authority website is more general. For example, a niche website may focus on “weight loss for women over 40” keyword phrase while an authority website will focus generally on “weight loss” and related keywords.
ii) Monetization
Niche websites usually focus on selling a specific product in the niche while authority websites usually sell multiple products and have different monetization avenues.
iii) Traffic sources
For niche websites, traffic mainly relies on getting specific keywords ranked high on Google. For authority websites, traffic sources are diverse and the aim is not to rank high on Google for specific keywords but to get traffic through brand building and social clout.
Challenges of Building an Authority Website
You can look at an authority website as niche site on a higher level. All the challenges one has to go through with a niche site should be anticipated with an authority site, but at a greater level. For my part, I have both business and personal challenges with the project that I’ll have to overcome.
Some of the challenges I see include:
i) Fatigue. I am already doing different projects on the side. Sometimes, life gets in the way and I may get tired with the project. The good thing is the project is set on a timeline of up to two years. So, I can go as slowly or as quickly as I wish. In the end, it’s all about making small steps towards achieving the large goal.
ii) Financial constraints. I anticipate I will have to outsource some tasks along the way. For instance, I usually write articles on my own but I will have to outsource SEO, and perhaps social media marketing. This requires money, which I may or may not have at the time.
iii) Market challenge.I am entering a market that I am entirely not familiar with. This is a farming market. I will have to devout a lot of time to learn the lingo and everything related to the market if my website is to become an authority in the industry.
iv) Delayed results. One of the joys of building a niche site is that you can see results quickly. Sometimes, you will need just a few weeks to get your website ranking on page 1 of Google. With an authority site, things are different. Since we are not chasing after niche keywords, it can take quite some time before we start getting traffic. This can be really discouraging especially after pouring all the sweat, blood and tears into the project.
And that is that.
Updates on the 10K Challenge
I will try to make at least one update every month with regards to where I am with the 10K Challenge. You can view all the updates of the challenge here.
The 10K Challenge has official began. May the odds be in your favor, dear friend.
I’ve been online since 2008. Over the past few years, I’ve seen it all…from $4999 coaching programs to $5 ebooks promising push-button systems to help you make money quick.
The more you stay online and engage in online business, the more you learn. There is something we talk about with my IM friend; if you see a course from a guru about a method, it’s probably not working. That push-button stuff you hear about is not there.
Success is all about grit, grind and sweat. I been there. I’m still there.
I despise gurus. Not the religious ones, but the IM gurus. The ones who only make money by teaching others how to make money. If you feel you are a guru, I. DESPISE. YOU. If this post offends you, then you are probably the one I’m talking about.
I came across a little rant from one of my successful friends on FB. The rant did a better job at explaining how the industry is in less than 1000 words. I got permission to post it here so that everyone can see. Hats off to Nathan Hague of Australia Wow for this post.
Take it off Nathan…
Fuck the coaches.
Fuck the IM morons from Warrior Forum and JVZoo selling $7 reports and shitty software and churn-n-burn of their email lists.
Fuck the inevitable backlash from the people in groups that have their tongues so far up these guru’s arses that they’ve compromised all their values in pursuit of selling you a shitty course with 80000 upsells.
You’re business people. Not 12 year old girls fawning over the words of others. Harden up or sell your business.
You don’t NEED others’ permission to do things the way YOU want to do them.
THERE IS *NO* magic systemised unified way you can find out for $997.
Other people ARE LITERALLY NO SMARTER THAN YOU, but the strength to see that is something that only can come from you.
I’m just a little tired of logging into Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and now live streaming and seeing SO many SME’s looking for magic soothing words and a heap of shitty substandard content being produced to capitalise on their fears of missing out or lack of confidence.
You went into business to solve a need for a pain point: Fix it and scale and don’t second guess yourself along the way and conversely, reward yourself with an outrageous amount of cash or whatever you need to feel good about yourself. You earned it. You are allowed to buy stuff.
Enjoy the lows as MUCH as the highs – they’re the things that separate out all the plastic people, and if you’re skilled, you’ll always come out on top.
Those battle-hardened business scars are proof you’re doing it right.
Finally, pay it forward. *AFTER* you’ve paid yourself an inordinate amount of dough to buy trinkets and frivolous shit-nacks that YOU EARNT, take a load of dough and throw it at something worthwhile – a charity, a pet side project, just some random dero walking down the street, whatEVER – just give that away – this is the only way to keep the karma flowing and dose up on those feelgood vibes that keep you hungry for wanting to do more to be able to do more.
This, my pedigree chums, is how I see the world. This is how I personally live. It might be a load of arse. It might be something you snigger at.
But you know what? I’m ok with that. I don’t need your acceptance. I don’t need your kind words. I don’t need your support.
I just want the ones that DO dig this message though, to know that business is hard and unjust and dirty and grimy: But if you like working through problems and you can hold your own course as others tell you that you’re wrong and that you’re a f*ckwit; If you can laugh at internet flame wars of others’, and spend 4 hours a day on your business INSTEAD, greasing palms, meeting people and writing the business as others sit in yet another Mastermind Facebook group navel-gazing…
…then you’re going to be just fine amigo. Just fine.
Share this fucking thing if you think it’s going to help some other poor prick in business who’s thinking they suck.
Welcome to another episode of my VN Experiment. It’s been quite a long time since I updated my blog. You can blame it on laziness.
Anyone, back to the topic at hand. Should you go niche or general with your viral content sites?
I have set up my VN clone like any other WordPress site. I have use the Socially Viral theme for the look and set up the basic stuff like plugins and the like. I will write a different post on the plugins I have used. Today, I wanted to address the issue of content.
Should you go niche or go for general content with your VN content?
Going either way can be profitable depending on how you approach it. Here are the pro and cons of going niche or going general.
Niche Content for Your Viral Site
If you choose to build a niche viral site content, your main asset will be the audience you will have. Since the audience is niche, it is easier to promote or sell items related to the niche. Apart from this, you can get higher ad dollars from advertisers when it comes to monetization.
You can monetize your audience by selling affiliate products, your own products, email ads, and so on. It will also be easy to connect with advertisers since you are a niche content provider with a niche audience. There are a number of viral sites that are niche focused doing this already.
The downside with niche viral sites is that you may not get a large enough audience to attract advertisers. Most adverstisers will pay you based on the amount of traffic your site gets. If you are not attracting huge amounts of traffic, it will be difficult to get ad revenues.
However, you can still do well with other monetization avenues such as affiliate and your own products.
General Content for Your Viral Site
The next option is to create a general viral content site. This means you go the ViralNova route, posting content in a variety of niches such as animals, nature, people, celebrities and so on. The good news with building a general content viral site is that you can get floods of traffic since you are targeting anyone who loves sensational content.
Apart from this, generating traffic would be easy since you are covering multiple niches. The multiple niches means you can go after different audiences. This essentially means your site would be like a conglomeration of multiple smaller niche sites. With the large traffic, getting ad dollars is likely to be easier especially if you are monetizing through Adsense and similar programs.
However, you will need to segment your audience if you will want to go for some monetization routes like email advertising or affiliate marketing.
Which Route Should You Go?
Either of the above routes can earn you significant income if you take the time to put the work. However, going multi niche will be more profitable both in the short and long term. Since you want to make money as quickly as possible, you can drive huge loads of traffic to your viral site from different avenues.
Moreover, you have multiple avenues of driving traffic to your viral site if you are covering multiple niches. For instance, a viral health article would be good to promote in health related niches while a series of dog pictures can be put before audiences that love dogs on Facebook through boosting posts.
For my site, I am going multi niche. It’s a numbers game with a viral site. With a large audience, even articles that may not have gone viral when targeted to a niche audience will have a chance to get viral.
In the next post, I will write about my content strategy for the viral site.
I wanted to write a quick email to discuss briefly about goals, but then I decided to turn it into a blog post.
We are now in the second leg of the half year and if you are like me, you probably forgot all about the goals you set at the beginning of the year. When I look at my goals, I can only hide in shame at the things I have not achieved. Seems like setting up goals at the beginning of the year is a fad that quickly gets forgotten.
Anyway, I am committed to achieving all the goals I set at the beginning of the year. There’s a quote that goes something like this “Aim for the stars so that if you fall, you land on the skies”. I’m not sure of the exact quote but it must be something like that. Basically, it means set your goals so high such that even if you fail, you will have accomplished much to be proud of.
[bctt tweet=”Aim for the stars so that if you fall, you land on the skies”]
That’s the motivation for me setting a lot of goals. I know some entrepreneurs don’t agree to this but heck, we are all different. What’s my poison may be your antidote.
My Goals Achievement Strategy
I took a good look at the goals I set and to be honest, I have STARTED all of them. But the tricky part is really not starting, but committing to the execution and seeing the goals to completion.
In this second round of the year, all my activities will be about completion. No more jumping into the next big thing that may be unveiled next month by who knows who. I simply want to finish all the goals I had set for myself.
To complete the goals, I need some form of discipline. And this is where it all counts. Without discipline, I know I will be posting another post sometime in January 2016 whining about how time flies, life happens and goals are made to be broken. I don’t want to do that this year.
What I’ve decided to do is to pick one project, work on it and see it to completion. For majority of the projects, the completion stage is simply when they start making some income. For instance, for my Pay Per Lead site, I will mark the project as complete when I start making income from it.
The Bare Bones
I already have what I consider to be the basics of the projects taken care of. Some of the sites only need some content while others only need links. Of course, plus some other tiny or nitty-gritty stuff that have to be taken care of.
I will be working with deadlines i.e. self-imposed deadlines simply to keep me on check. I will also have tasks planned for every day for the projects. For instance, some of the tasks I have for my PPL site include:
Write 1 post per month for the site
Check competitors backlinks
Build backlinks
Set up FB ads to reach to potential PPL customers
Since most of the tasks cannot be done 24/7, I will probably get started on the next projects as I finalize on any of the tasks not finished. For instance, I don’t expect to be creating backlinks to the site every day. I can schedule Fridays to be my backlinking days while I work on other projects over the other days.
With that said, will I show the website publicly? Straight answer: Nope.
Well, we all know what can happen when the site is revealed to the public. One of the biggest SEOers, Stephen Floyd, of BulletProofSEO.com just had his website negative-SEO’d after showing it in a webinar last week. Check the FB screenshot below.
It’s for such reasons that I would not be publicly revealing my sites. However, I will be providing metrics that I may deem important for anyone who may be following along. For instance, you can expect to see the traffic numbers, number of customers closed, email templates used for prospecting, sales/income, etc.
Prioritizing the Goals
One question that one reader asked a while ago is how do you decide which projects to focus on when you have a dozen on your plate. Well, there is a lot of advice out there but I will tell you how my process is. It’s actually very simple: pick the easiest project or the one nearest to completion and time it will take to start generating revenues from the projects.
When evaluating my projects, I was looking at the following:
i) Completion time: Which projects are easy to complete? Which ones can take the shortest time to complete? I prioritized the projects based on this simply because I want to celebrate the progresses I will be making.
ii) Time to revenue. This is simply fancy way of asking how long will it take for a project to start generating income. I am starting with projects. that have a potential to generate income as quickly as possible. This way, I can reinvest the income to other projects and move faster overall.
These are the two things I considered when prioritizing the projects. We’ll see how things pan out in the coming months.
PS: If you would like my help every week on any aspect of online marketing, you can join the Team Inbound Master Mind FB Group. This is a premium group that costs $19 per month. Joining the group will help you with starting or growing your business. At the group, you can ask any questions, from the simplest to the most complex ones. Moreover, you will also get to network with other online entrepreneurs that you can JV with or exchange ideas
So, back to the goals topic. How are you doing with your goals? Are you on track to achieving them or have already given hope on them?
If you have given hope, I encourage you: Please Don’t. Sometime in January 2016, you will remember this post and will either be happy that you didn’t give up on achieving your goals, or you will be wondering where the last 6 months flew without you doing anything.
If you stumbling onto this post, you may be wondering what’s gotten into me. It’s been 3 months since my last post on January, and damn, how time flies.
I’ve been trying to blog and honestly, this must be one of the toughest challenges when you are building your online business. I mean, sometimes I’m like, why blog when blogging is not my main business?
Anyway, today I’ve decided to resurrect the monthly income reports, and hopefully this trend will stay on for some time.
In this report, I will show my traffic stats and also where my online income came from. I will also outline my business expenses and my net earnings.
Without further ado, let’s dive in.
April Traffic Report
One thing that I will confidently say is that I’ve never made any effort to get traffic to my blog since January. In fact, the last effort I made was in January when I sent my subscribers a ping on the 2015 goals post.
In April, things were bland on the blog. Here’s what Google Analytics shows of traffic stats:
I’ve gotten some clarity in my business and life and I’ll be putting more effort in this blog. This month, I am planning to write content on the following:
i) How to find content for your viral site. (This question was asked by a reader some time ago and unfortunately, I never got to address it. If you are the reader, sorry for taking long with this. But believe me, I’m writing a post on it.)
ii) Update my niche website experiment. It’s been a while since I update my niche website experiment posts. I am hoping this month I will get to address something.
Marketing
Here is my marketing plan for this blog in May:
i) Share the blog on social media sites (I will look at sites like Alltop, Techocrati, et al.)
ii) Get over 1000 visitors by the end of the month. It’s already the 8th day of the month so I have something like 22 days to accomplish this.
April Income
In May, I made my online income through freelance writing and affiliate marketing. Here is a breakdown of my earnings:
“Life passes most people by while they are still making grand plans for it.” – Quote from the movie Blow (2001)
January is almost over and I just realized I haven’t written anything this year. First off, cheers to the New Year. I’m glad you made it. May your year be much successful than 2014 was.
Today, I wanted to lay down my 2015 goals.
I remember writing my 2014 goals just like it was yesterday. Funny how time flies.
Now, looking back at the goals I set last year, I don’t know whether to make an excuse or be sad for not accomplishing them. I out rightly said it in the last sentence, I DIDN’T ACCOMPLISH MY 2014 GOALS.
I have no excuse for not accomplishing the goals. Time flies, things happened and I just lost track. Anyway, here is a recap of my 2014 goals and how I fared:
Build 10 Niche Sites– Fail (I only built 2 niche sites. One got hit by the Penguin update and has been totally neglected from my activities)
Read 12 Books– Too bad. I never even finished one book. I once had gotten immersed into the Art of War by San Tzu because it came installed on my HTC Desire. But I think the book disappointed me. Reading it felt like I was reading a college research paper. Maybe it’s the version I got or something…but with all the praise I’ve had about the book, I wasn’t impressed. I may try to read it again this year.
Networking – This started out well. I networked with a couple of Kenyan internet entrepreneurs at the beginning of 2014. We used to have Skype meeting and Google Hangouts but then, the networking never really took off. I guess everyone was busy with their own projects. I however still consider myself friend with some of them, like Walter Akolo (check his blog here: FreelancerKenya.com)
Learn Martial Arts– I did all the ground work needed to get started with martial arts. This mean having a training time table, getting the necessary instructional videos, etc. But somewhere along the way, I just lost track. You see, training martial arts after a long day at work is not something that goes well with me. Most of the times, I arrived home too tired to even cook, so how could I even train?
You can’t say you’ve been to Arusha, Tanzania if you don’t take a photo at the Monument!
Travel the world– I did travel to Mombasa in May, 2014. I know that is not what I meant by “travel the world’, but that was the best experience I had in a long time. I stayed a whooping one and a half months in Mombasa and had the best days of my life.
Coming to traveling to different countries, I only managed to go to Tanzania. This was during the Christmas holidays. I was in Tanzania (TZ) for 11 days. Nice trip and got to learn the power of CouchCurfing. If you plan to travel to a different country on a budget, try CouchSurfing.
Build My Content Marketing Business– Yes, my goal was to build the content marketing business. Needless to say, I did not achieve much on this front too. I remained with the same clients and had trouble outsourcing some of the tasks that needed to be done. Also, being busy with my own projects let me neglect much of the content marketing client acquisition that was to be done.
Overall, I failed to reach my 2014 goals. I may have tried some goals, even started some, but along the way, I just failed to commit to them entirely and this made me not achieve them.
My 2015 Goals
2015 is here and it’s time for some brand new goals. 😀
For me, my 2015 goals will simply be a continuation of the goals that I didn’t achieve in 2014. The goals I set last year are still relevant to my personal and business life and so it only makes sense that they should be part of my goals.
So, in a nutshell, these are my goals for 2015:
1. Travel More (Last year, I visited Tanzania. This year, I’m looking to go to Zambia or Malawi)
2. Newtwork More (This year, I’m building my online business network. Gotta get serious with this thing.)
3. Work on My Online Business (I need a plan on this)
4. Learn French (I got all the resources I need. I just need to be committed to learning)
5. Read 12 Books (I don’t know how I’m going to start this)
6. Learn Martial Arts (Long shot, I guess. But it still made it to the list of goals).
Apart from the above, I have a few more goals I would like to achieve. Perhaps creating additional goals, especially on the business side of things, is just creating distractions like Bill Murphy from Forever Jobless says here. However, I know success requires people to go against the grain. If I plan and execute, I believe I will be able to achieve most of the goals.
So, here are the additional goals I have for 2015:
Launch a course on Udemy
Create a PPL (pay per lead) business
Build Rank Heat to a client SEO services provider
Start saving for a rainy day
Launch an Ecommerce store
Build one authority website
Start a subscription based business
There we go, my goals for 2015.
I hope this time I will not lose track along the way and fail.
What are you hoping to achieve in 2015? I’d live to read your posts. Leave a link on the comment section below.
November is here and it’s funny how quickly time flies when you have a lot of things going on. I have a quick follow up update for you on my VN experiment. This update is with regards to the theme I used for my site.
When setting up my VN site, I opted to use WordPress as my Content Management System. The benefits of WordPress are obvious, and it’s the flexibility in posting and scheduling content that I was mainly looking at. Moreover, I generally prefer WordPress of other CMSs.
One of the things I was looking for is a theme that would look/function like ViralNova. Now, you may cringe at the thought of copying everything VN is doing but if they are getting it right, why should I go a different route?
So, my quest to search for a theme that’s similar to what VN is using started. Luckily, I did not have to look far to get what I believe is a good theme. While it’s not exactly like VN’s, it certainly has some characteristics that I find important in this type of site.
Viral Nova Clone Template
Now, this experiment is about VN but there are a bunch of other related sites (or should I say competitors?) that are also having similar success. In my experiment, I am majorly focusing on three sites: Viral Nova, Upworthy and Distractify.
Let’s see how the sites’ layouts look like as of this time:
From the layouts, you may have noticed some boxed thing going on.
Moreover, in case you missed it, all the themes also allow visitors to load more articles on the same page rather than going through the usual pagination.
Coming to the pages, you’ll see the ads positions are nearly similar.
Then, of course there is the ability to share posts on social media sites.
The theme I am looking for should have similar ad placement on the pages. Then, of course, things like social sharing capability are important.
I’ve looked at different themes that are likely to work for my case and I’ve settled on Socially Virally WordPress theme. This theme looks nearly like ViralNova and has the major features I bolded above:
You can see the boxed homepages, auto-scrolling posts at the bottom, and the ad placements on the side.
The theme only cost me $35 from MyThemeShop.
What you may or may not know is that ViralNova initially run on True Pixel theme designed by MyThemeShop.
However, the site was given a facelift, with the owner outsourcing the work to 99designs. You can see the winning design that they opted to go for here.
If you are not familiar with 99designs, it’s basically a crowdsourcing, contest-like design website. You simply initiate a contest and commit to paying for it. A bunch of designers interested in your contest will submit their design proposals. You get to choose the winning proposal and pay for it.
The site is really a good place if you are looking for a unique logo, web layout or anything to do with graphics. I’ve seen lots of professional graphics at the site. Check 99designs.com and see what the designers can help you with.
For my Socially Viral theme, I just did some customizations to make the theme match my brand’s colors and I was up and running in a day.
Viral Nova WordPress Theme
If you are looking to create a viral site, you may have other ideas on what you would like. Luckily, since the success of VN, there have been a number of good themes and scripts designed for viral types of sites that you can choose.
Here are my select top 5 Viral Nova templates.
1. ViralTimes
This theme is also designed by HotCloneThemes and can be said to be the perfect Viral Nova template. The theme looks exactly like Viral Nova in terms of features and even the colors. The theme costs $69 but the best thing is that the price gives you access to all the themes developed by HotCloneThemes.
The best thing is that you can get the theme for free. Simply sign up for an account here. However, with the free theme, you cannot remove copyright information, which is a link indicating “Designed by HotCloneThemes”.

I did sign up and get to set up my site with the theme. So, how does it perform?
Well, I couldn’t get the theme to work properly on my site. It just felt so blank…like a part of the theme was missing. Moreover, there was not a lot I could do in terms of customization without editing the .css file.
If you are good at HTML and are not afraid to edit code, the theme may be good for you. But for me, I’m more of a visual editing guy so I opted for a different them.
2. ViralPress
From all the themes I have come across online, this theme is the one that looks exactly like Distractify. The theme is developed by HotCloneThemes and is meant for WordPress and comes with modern standard features such as social media integration, responsive, lightweight, etc.
I looked around the developer site and saw clone themes of popular websites such as College Humor, LOL Snaps and others. The theme also goes for $69, like all themes developed by HotCloneThemes.com
This is the Viral Nova clone I am using for my website. The theme is responsive and professionally made. Moreover, the backend is clean and easy to get started with.
The theme is being sold for an amazingly low price of only $35. I opted for Socially Viral because of their unbelievable low membership price. For only $67, you get all the premium themes and unlimited updates.
I think this was a good investment on my part since I am constantly making sites for myself and clients and will not have to buy a new theme every time I need to do an experiment with a web site
Some of the features that make the theme stand out include:
Tasteful homepage design and style that will sparks curiosity within consumers.
Appealing common threads design and style that will raises your page views.
Getting individual web site design and style that will raises your interpersonal shares.
Prominent sign-up pack that will raises your buyers.
Fast design and style that will boost your search engine ranking.
Built-in advertising opportunities that will improve your earnings.
PS: You can get a 10% discount on the theme by using this coupon DON-M. Simply enter it when checking out to apply your discount.
4. TruePixel
This WordPress theme is developed by MyThemeShop and is currently on sale for only $35. This is the theme that Viral Nova used initially before changing it’d design.
I also used the theme on my site and found it easy to customize and set up. However, the homepage boxed feature that I was looking for lacks in this theme. That’s why I switched to Socially Viral from TruePixel.
However, the team at MyThemeShop has introduced a new TruePixel layout that makes it great for viral websites. Here is the new layout dubbed “social” layout.
TruePixel is a great theme to use for your Viral Nova clone website. The theme is lightweight, which is an important factor since you will be posting lots of images on your website.
You can check the full features of the theme here.
5. BearWorthy
This is another VN clone that I have come across but is not meant for WordPress.
BearWorthy is a Viral Nova clone script made using HTML5 and CSS3. The script costs $47 and can be easily setup if you know a bit of HTML. Looking at the script, you get the best of both Viral Nova and Upworthy features. This is one of the best VN clones I’ve seen around.
Some of the features of BearWorthy include:
User Sign up/login system
4 Types of posts (Image, Gallery, Audio and Video)
Explore posts (trending, featured, popular)
Next/previous buttons on all post pages
Comments system (via Facebook)
Search feature and
Social share
Newsletter Subscriptions
This was my preferred theme but since it’s a PHP script and doesn’t work with WordPress, I ended up not choosing it. However, if you are comfortable with HTML, you should be able to get this going. Moreover, there are a number of installation videos provided by the developer to get you started.
The above are four of the top Viral Nova clone templates that I have been looking at. Like I said, I finally decided to go with Socially Viral. However, there are other high quality themes out there that will make your website stand out and not look like a VN copy-cat.
Thanks for stopping by and Happy November.
